Next two weeks...kinda long but important!! We're in the home stretch

Hey everyone, I apologize in advance for the length of this email but there is a lot to cover and the next week and a half is going to be very busy. First, I also apologize that I haven’t been able to respond to everyone’s emails this past week. I’ve been out of town for work and have not had a chance to respond but hopefully this email will address all the questions that were asked. If not please reach back out to me and let me know. Also Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there!!

PRACTICE: Due to the Juneteenth holiday, we will NOT have practice tomorrow (Monday 20th June). Happy Juneteenth everyone!!

Tuesdays Meet @ Nothumberland (June 21): If you haven’t already please be sure to designate your swimmers eligibility. I will be cutting it off today so we can have our line-up by tomorrow. Also I’m opening up the volunteer list so please volunteer. Please look at the information at the end of this email. This was sent out by Northumberland regarding parking, food, and other items of interest. Real quick though, be sure to bring your own chairs and it looks like it is going to be EXTREMELY HOT please prepare accordingly (water, umbrellas, sunscreen, etc).

Mondays Meet against Glenwood (and maybe MALO again)(June 27): Yes you read that right! The meet is on Monday June 27 at Embry Hills. There is a chance we will be swimming a 3 way meet but I will find out more info later this week. I will be opening up the volunteer list shortly.

ASA Championships (June 29th pm): ASA championships will be held on Wednesday afternoon at Georgia Tech Aquarium. We must have our entries in by June 24th which means I will be closing entries on June 23rd (This Thursday). There are few things you should know. First you will be able to choose which two events you wish to swim for championships. The coaching staff will then determine the best relays to put forward based on those entries. We will do our best to get as many relays in as possible but your child may not be in a relay depending on the entries we receive. Second, once the entries have been closed we will not reopen them, which means we can’t add your swimmer in after the 24th (technically it’s possible and we can look at those alternates if absolutely necessary but it involves a hefty fee associated with it and is a lot of additional work). Third, the swim team pays to swim in this meet per swimmer. However, if you sign up your swimmer as “eligible” and then they can’t make it then we will pass on that fee to you. (If there are legitimate reasons the swimmer can’t make it we will work with you and not charge the fee, what we are trying to avoid is the “I signed my swimmer up and then he/she didn’t feel like swimming so we’re not going” line of reasoning. By not having a swimmer there who stated they were going to be there greatly affects relays. I hope y’all get the picture. If you would like to talk about it further don’t hesitate to ask. Fourth, you will be responsible for getting your swimmer to/from Georgia Tech aquatic center on the day of the meet. We don’t have our warm up times yet but it will likely be between 3-5 pm on Wednesday with the meet starting around 5. Plan on it taking the entire afternoon to swim the swim meet. I will be opening up the eligibility for this meet today as well. If you have questions about it ask….like I said after this Thursday it will be too late.

End of year party: We are looking into details for an end of year party…more information will be following. We are tentatively planning on the week after Championships

As always any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!!

Jason

Email from Northumberland:

“My name is Carmen and I'm the Northumberland Head Coach! We are looking forward to hosting the Electric Rays on Tuesday!

A few details for your reference:

Aside from 3 spaces reserved for the visiting coach, a visiting team Rep, and the ASA ref, the parking lot will be closed. Please keep parking on Whitby Dr, Greenrock Trail, and Umberland Dr to one side only on these side streets.

Away swimmers will warm up at 5:30pm, so we suggest y'all arrive by 5:00.

Visitors should provide 6 timers, a finishing judge, a computer operator, and a deck manager. Plus, as many bullpen parents as they need. We will have a timer meeting at 5:45pm.

The visitor’s bullpen is located on the Volleyball court behind the pool. Please bring chairs.

The concession stand will offer Salads, Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, Pizza, snacks, fruit, and beverages. Small-denomination cash, Venmo, and PayPal are accepted. There will be a QR Code to scan for Venmo and PayPal payments.

As a team, we'll print labels during the meet and visitors should provide a ribbon volunteer for their swimmers unless they want a copy to print out the next morning at their pool.

We will lock our roster by 3pm on Monday.

Please reach out if you have any questions!

Coach Carmen”
