2025 Electric Rays Swim Team Registration - NOW OPEN!
February 16th
Welcome to the 2025 Electric Rays swim season! We are excited to have your swimmers on the team and can't wait to see them in the water!
This year, we are happy to welcome our new Head Coach Elena Perrotta! Elena currently works as an assistant coach with the Tucker Tigers High School Swim Team, and is a Special Education teacher at Livsey Elementary. She is excited to work with all of our age groups to improve swim technique so everyone can set personal bests throughout the season!
A few notes about the upcoming season:
- Welcome to the Electric Rays, Northcrest Swim and Tennis Club! We are excited to have you back on the team after a 10+ year hiatus and we look forward to working with our new Northcrest swimmers and parents.
- We aim to start practice on Monday, May 12, at Embry Hills Club. For the first couple of weeks before swim meets start, practices will be Monday through Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 (beginners 5:30 - 6:00, intermediate swimmers 6:00 - 6:45, middle and high schoolers (and more advanced younger swimmers) 6:45 - 7:30).
- After the first swim meet, we will shift to practicing on Mondays at Embry Hills Club, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Westhampton Swim Club at the same times listed above. On all but the last week, Tuesdays will be swim meet nights.
- Weekly swim meets will be on Tuesdays May 27, June 3, June 10, June 17, and the final meet will be on Monday June 23 (home and away assignments TBD), and we will compete in the ASA Championship on June 25 or 26.
- Beginner swimmers need to be able to swim across the pool to compete in swim meets, and with coach approval can continue to practice with the BRAND NEW Little Rays swim group and improve their swimming until they reach this milestone.
- IMPORTANT:If you are not sure of your child's ability to swim from one end of the pool to the other, please register them for the Little Rays group. For the Little Rays group, your child must be comfortable in the water, not scared of it, and at least able to dog paddle to move around. As soon as they can swim across the pool, we will move them into the Electric Rays Meet Competitors group, which will allow them to swim in meets.
- ASA fees are required for ALL swimmers. These fees are in addition to the regular Electric Rays swim fees which cover coaches' pay and other costs. The ASA League Fees are:
- $42 for the Electric Rays Meet Competitors group swimmers which covers our participation in weekly meets and the ASA end-of-season championship and
- $23 for the Little Rays noncompetitive group swimmers.
- After April 16, ASA late fees apply to registrations for both groups.
- We offer discounts for multiple kids from the same family.
- Please see the FAQ's and Links pages on our website for information on our swimsuit color and where to purchase them. If you are signing your child up for Little Rays, it is not necessary to purchase a team suit, but you may still do so if you wish. For everyone in the competitive group, it is best to purchase the swimsuit early, so that you have time to return/exchange it if it doesn't fit.
- We are looking for sponsors for 2025 to help cover the costs of equipment, supplies, and additional assistant coaches! If you or any businesses you know of may be able to support us monetarily, or with donations for concessions, please share the attached Sponsorship Letter.
- Volunteers are essential to running our swim meets, both at home and away. Although we have noted a requirement for two volunteer shifts per family throughout the season, please plan to volunteer as much as you are able beyond that. Meets run smoothly when we are fully staffed!
- The parent committee - Peter Gurd, Chrisinda Putnam, Sarah Adams, CJ Barranco, and Justin Marlow - has worked hard in the off season and is seeking additional committee members, so please let us know if you can devote some time to guiding the new direction of the Electric Rays. We would love to have your ideas and assistance!
Let us know if you have any questions and don't forget to share this Electric Rays registration email with any friends whose kids might want to swim with us. Let's make it a great season of swimming!
Go Electric Rays!
