REGISTER NOW! 2026 Electric Rays Swim Season
Welcome to the 2026 Electric Rays swim season! We are excited to add your swimmers to the team and can't wait to see them in the water! Registration is NOW OPEN so don't delay!
We are happy to welcome our Head Coach Lyla Richards! Lyla is a sophomore at Villanova University, where she majors in communications and is a member of the Villanova Division 1 Women’s Swimming and Diving team. She started her athletic career as a swimmer on the Pangborn Piranhas when she was 5 years old, and swam with Pangborn until she graduated high school. Lyla was most recently an assistant coach for Pangborn where she enjoyed sharing her skills and enthusiasm for swimming with the team. Lyla has always loved summer league swimming and is super excited to coach this year with Embry Hills!
A few notes about the upcoming season:
- In an effort to grow our team, we are offering some great discounts for eligible families. Please read down for more info.
- We aim to start practice on Monday, May 11, at Embry Hills Club. All practices are in the evenings. For the first couple of weeks before swim meets start, practices will be Monday through Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm (beginners 5:30 - 6:15, intermediate swimmers 6:15 - 7:00, middle and high schoolers (and more advanced younger swimmers) 7:00 - 7:45).
- We are extending beginners' practice to 45 minutes this season! Based on feedback from our end-of-season survey, we are adding 15 minutes to the first practice to give our youngest swimmers more instruction time with our coaches.
- After the first swim meet, we will shift to practicing on Mondays at Embry Hills Club, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Westhampton Swim Club at the same times listed above. On all but the last week, Tuesdays will be swim meet nights.
- Weekly swim meets will be on Tuesdays: May 26, June 2, June 9, June 16, and the final meet will be on Monday, June 22 (home and away assignments TBD), and we will compete in the ASA Championship on June 24 or 25.
- Beginner swimmers need to be able to swim across the pool to compete in swim meets, and with coach approval, can continue to practice with the team and improve their swimming until they reach this milestone.
- IMPORTANT: If you are not sure of your child's ability to swim from one end of the pool to the other, please register them for the Little Rays group. For the Little Rays group, your child must be comfortable in the water, not scared of it, and at least able to dog paddle to move around. As soon as they can swim across the pool, we will move them into the Electric Rays Meet Competitors group, which will allow them to swim in meets.
- ASA fees are required for ALL swimmers. These fees are in addition to the regular Electric Rays swim fees which cover coaches' pay and other costs. The ASA League Fees are:
- $50 for the Electric Rays Meet Competitors group swimmers which covers our participation in weekly meets and the ASA end-of-season championship and
- $28 for the Little Rays noncompetitive group swimmers.
- After April 15, a $20 ASA late fee applies to registrations for both groups, and availability of team t-shirts for new registrations will be limited.
- The remaining amount included in the registration fees goes towards coaches' pay and administrative costs.
- DISCOUNTS OFFERED FOR:
- Multiple kids from the same family,
- Parent Committee Members (join us - more info below!), and
- Senior swimmers (new this year - senior swimmers pay no team registration fee, only the ASA fees).
- END OF SEASON VOLUNTEER OPT-OUT FEE: Volunteers are essential to running our swim meets, both at home and away, and we require each family to volunteer for two shifts throughout the season. Families who do not volunteer for two shifts at meets during the season may be charged a $50 opt-out fee at the end of the season, with advance notice from the swim team organizers. Although we require only two volunteer shifts per family throughout the season, please plan to volunteer as much as you can beyond that. Meets run smoothly and are more fun when we are fully staffed!
- EARN A DISCOUNT ON YOUR REGISTRATIONS! The parent committee - Sarah Adams, CJ Barranco, and Justin Marlow - is in need of new committee members to help manage swim meets, with a primary focus on home meets. We need one person to help with concessions logistics and one to help with meet volunteers and management. We can teach you what you need to know and would love to have your assistance! Please email me Sarah at [email protected] to volunteer to help. If you join the committee as an active member, you'll be eligible for a significant discount on your swimmers' registrations.
