Electric Rays: Practice Location Update

What a great first week of practice! Thank you for your patience as we worked through our assistant coaches’ end-of-school- and graduation-related absences. Congratulations to Coach Seda on graduating from St. Pius this Saturday!

After reviewing our roster and where families are located, we’ve decided to hold practices at Embry Hills Club going forward rather than splitting between EHC and Westhampton. A few factors led to this decision:

Headcount & Pool Size:
Our team has grown tremendously this season, from about 20 swimmers at the first practice to nearly 40 now. Westhampton has four lanes compared to EHC’s five, and hosting 35–40 swimmers in four lanes would limit opportunities for effective coaching. EHC also offers more deck space and seating for parents.

Geography & Traffic:
For the past several years, most of our swimmers have lived west of 285. Holding practices at EHC allows the vast majority of families to reach practice within about 15 minutes, while many west-of-285 families face significantly longer commutes to Westhampton — especially with the Mercer University Drive closure beginning May 26.

Parking:
Westhampton has limited parking and a difficult traffic flow, while EHC offers two accessible lots plus overflow parking nearby at the church.

We understand this change may be disappointing or less convenient for some Westhampton families, and we truly appreciate your flexibility and support as our team continues to grow. This decision was made with the overall experience of our swimmers in mind, including practice quality, safety, space, and travel considerations for the team as a whole. We’re grateful to have such a supportive swim community and are excited for the season ahead together.

Go Electric Rays!
